Egyptian actress Yasmin Abdelaziz has opened up about the reason behind her decision not to participate in the Ramadan 2024 drama marathon.

In a statement, Abdelaziz disclosed she opted not to participate in the drama maratho n due to being busy with her upcoming comedy film.

The project witnesses the actress making a comeback to the big screen after five years of absence. She made her last onscreen appearance in the 2018 film “EL-Abla Tam Tam", which premiered during the Eid Al-Fitr movie marathon.

The cast also starred Hamdy Al-Merghany, Bayoumi Fouad, Mostafa Abo Seria, Hesham Ismail, Mahmoud Gharib, and others.

“EL-Abla Tam Tam" was written by Ayman Uttar and directed by Ali Idris.

The plot revolves around a scaredy-cat, teacher Tam Tam, who is forced to protect her classroom after a group of prisoners broke out of prison using an underground tunnel that leads them into a school.

This will be Abdelaziz's first time not to participate in the drama marathon in three years. The actress participated in the past years with "Dharb Nar", "Elly Maloush Kbeer", and “Wi Neheb Tani Leh”.

The decision also comes after Abdelaziz and her husband actor Ahmed Elawady decided not to be teaming up for new TV or film production in the near future.

In a recent interview, Elawady said: "We made the decision not to team up to give ourselves a chance to participate in the films we wanted to join,".

He stressed they will not participate next Ramadan in a TV production as each will have their own TV series.
