Xi Attaches Great Importance to Ties with N. Korea

China's President Xi Jinping sent a verbal message to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in North Korea, in which he emphasized that he attached great importance to relations between the two countries.

Xi thanked Kim for his congratulatory letter after the Chinese leader's recent re-election.

"The Secretary General of the Communist Party of China Xi Jinping said that he attaches great importance to the relations between the two parties and states, expressed his readiness to speed up the development of socialism in both countries and to contribute to peace, stability, and prosperity in the region by strengthening the strategic management of relations between China and North Korea together with the Secretary General of the Workers’ Party of Korea Kim Jong-Un in the new situation," the news agency said.

The message was conveyed by the new Chinese envoy to Pyongyang Wang Yajun believed the head of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea Kim Song Nam.
