On last night's WWE SmackDown FOX premiere, Brock Lesnar defeated Kofi Kingston in under 5 second to become the new WWE Champion. After the match, former UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez and Rey Mysterio approached Lesnar in the ring. Velasquez and Lesnar then fought, setting set a future bout between the two.
That match is set to take place at WWE Crown Jewel in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on October 31,. The WWE offered big money to bring in the former UFC champion and make this match happen, but it's currently unknown how long Velasquez has signed on for with the WWE.
Velasquez was brought to WWE by Mysterio, following the attack on Monday's RAW that saw Lesnar destroy Rey and his son, Dominick. After last night's show, Velasquez said he's looking to get "payback" on Lesnar.
Velasquez, who previously defeated Lesnar for the UFC Heavyweight Title back in 2010 via TKO in the first round, is making a transition from MMA to pro wrestling and has already competed in several Mexican independent shows. He reportedly notified UFC officials of withdrawing from the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) testing pool, retiring him from active competition.
The former UFC Heavyweight Champion isn't the only combat athlete to transition from the sport to the world of professional wrestling, as Ken Shamrock, Brock Lesnar and lately Ronda Rousey had already made the transition.
