WTM Closes Today Amid International Acclaim of Egyptian Pavilion

The World Travel Market (WTM) 2019 reached its final stage on Wednesday. A number of 5000 exhibitors from different countries have participated in the event, which is held annually to bring together major tour operators and travel agents and experts from all over the world.

It also had more than 30,000 visitors who are interested in travel and tourism.

56 Tourist facilities in the Egyptian pavilion

This year, the Egyptian pavilion in WTM included around 56 tourist facilities, including 28 hotels and 27 companies, like EgyptAir, in addition to the Egyptian Federation of Tourism Chambers.

The pavilion was supervised by Tarek Adel, Egypt's Ambassador to London, and Engineer Ahmed Youssef, President of the Egyptian General Authority for the Promotion of Tourism. .

Egypt wins international leadership

The Egyptian Ministry of Tourism won for the first time the International Travel & Tourism Award for Outstanding Contribution to the Industry during the WTM in London.

The award comes in appreciation for the ministry’s tremendous efforts over the past two years to promote the tourism industry in the Middle East region.

Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Tourism, received the award at a ceremony attended by more than 500 senior professionals working in the field of tourism and travel.

Egypt’s Tourism Minister Dr. Rania Al-Mashat received the prize in the presence of 500 senior figures working in the field of travel.

International acclaim of Egypt's achievements in tourism

Kim Thompson, director of Publishing at Travel & Tourism News Middle East TTN Magazine, expressed his pleasure over Egypt’s award.

He added that the Egyptian Tourism Ministry has been selected as the pioneer of this important industry in the Middle East region to win the award this year. “This was the culmination of what it has done during the past two years and had the greatest impact on the travel and tourism industry in the region and the world”, he noted.

Rashi Sen, a TTN editor, said that the Egyptian ministry deserved the winning, adding that E-TRP had a great impact on this vital sector as the tourism revenues in Egypt recorded its highest level ever in the history this year.

TTN is the leading monthly trade publication distributed to travel and tourism industry professionals across the Middle East.

Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) expressed his pleasure to visit the Egyptian pavilion at the WTM.

Egypt’s great achievement

Pololikashvil explained that Egypt managed to achieve a huge boom in tourism during the past year and a half, through the strategic plan drawn up by the Egyptian Ministry to develop and reform the sector, which now become a role model for 159 Member States of the World Tourism Organization.

He pointed out that the great efforts made by the Egyptian ministry have succeeded in attracting more and more tourists to Egypt, stressing that the World Tourism Organization is always ready to support the tourism sector in Egypt.

He confirmed that the Grand Egyptian Museum GEM will be also another great achievement and will contribute to enhancing the flow of foreign visitors to Egypt to see the great civilization of Egypt.
