Illia “Golem” Yefimchyk, who is "most monstrous bodybuilder" and "The Mutant," passed away at the age of 36 on September 8, his wife Anna announced on Thursday.
The Belarusian athlete, who is known for his intensive workouts, suffered a heart attack before slipping into a coma, media reports indicated.
According to CNN, he was taken to hospital by helicopter, and died two days later.
His wife told media reporters: "I spent every day by his side, hoping, and his heart started beating again for two days," adding: “But the doctor gave me the terrible news that his brain had died."
“I thank everyone for their condolences," she added.
"It’s very heartwarming to realize that I am not left alone in this world, and so many people have offered me help and support."
