Reactions to the normalization agreement between Sudan and Israel, which Washington announced Friday, differed among world leaders as some welcomed, while others denounced and rejected it.

Here are the most prominent reactions so far:

An Egyptian and American welcoming

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi wrote on his official Facebook page: "I welcome the joint efforts of the United States of America, Sudan and Israel regarding the normalization of relations between Sudan and Israel, and I value all efforts aimed at achieving regional stability and peace."

US President Donald Trump welcomed the agreement to normalize relations, stressing that the two countries had established "peace" between them.

Trump told reporters at the White House that "many, many" other agreements are coming.

He added: "There are at least five Arab countries that want to join," and expected that Saudi Arabia is about to normalize its relations with the Tel Aviv soon.

Meanwhile, Ivanka Trump, a White House counselor and the daughter of US President Trump, described her father's administration as a "peace administration," referring to his success in brokering peace agreements between Israel, the UAE, Bahrain and Sudan.

"The president succeeded where many have failed in the Middle East," she added on Twitter.

An exceptional transformation

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the agreement as "an extraordinary transformation."

In a statement, he said, "What an exceptional change! Today Khartoum says yes to peace with Israel, yes to recognition of Israel and yes to normalization with Israel."

Palestinian refusal

On the other hand, the Palestinian presidency affirmed its "condemnation and rejection of the normalization of relations with the Israeli occupying state that usurps the land of Palestine."

It considered the declaration of normalization of relations between the two countries "contradicts the decisions of the Arab summits, as well as the Arab peace initiative approved by the Arab and Islamic summits, and by the UN Security Council in accordance with Resolution 1515."

Political Sin

The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement "Hamas", according to its spokesman Hazem Qassem, considered the normalization of relations between Israel and Sudan "a political sin."

"We express our condemnation, anger and disgust at this shameful and insulting normalization," the movement said in a statement.

Black page in Sudan's history

The Islamic Jihad Movement described the normalization between Sudan and Israel as "a black page in Sudan's history, and a betrayal to the Arab nation."

Iran Denounces

Iran denounced the agreement, saying: "Pay enough ransom, close your eyes to the crimes against Palestinians, then you’ll be taken off the so-called ‘terrorism’ blacklist,” Iran’s Foreign Ministry tweeted. “Obviously, the list is as phony as the US fight against terrorism. Shameful.”
