A study published today, Wednesday, showed that slowing of vaccination against the Coronavirus may lead within the three years to loss of $2.3 trillion of Gross Domestic Product ( GDP)  across the world.

According to the study conducted by “  the Economist Intelligence Unit” the center of research in the United States of America (USA), the states that vaccinate less than 60% of their population until mid-2022  will register losses estimated at $ 2.3 trillion during the period from 2022 to 2025.

These losses equal the annual GDP of a major power like France.

The study pointed out that two-thirds of those losses will inflict the developing economies in the world and lead to an increase in the rate of poverty and risks of breaking out social troubles.

The study warns that the slow vaccination against the Coronavirus makes the sub-Sahara African states lose about 2.9% of their GDP between the years 2022-2025.

On the other hand, nations of Eastern Europe are expected to lose .01% of their GDP over the same period owing to the disorder in operations of vaccination against COVID-19.

The authors of the study stressed that countries of Asia and the Pacific Ocean are going to lose $1.7 trillion of GDP from 2022 until 2025.

Also, the inequality in the distribution of the vaccines ensues delaying the economic development of the poor countries which take a longer time to return to levels of the pre-pandemic era compared with the developed nations in Western Europe, Japan, and the USA.

By the end of the standing month, some 60% of the population of the rich nations will have received the anti-corona vaccine, compared with 1% of the population of the poor nations.

Agha Du Maria, Manager of the International Expectations at  “ the Economist Intelligence Unit” center of research, and author of the study, said that there is little chance to bridge the gap to achieve an equal distribution of the vaccines.

She indicated that donations offered by the rich nation cover a small part of their needs.
