The World Bank has announced that it will provide $20 billion to Pakistan over the next decade to help the country address climate change and development challenges that hinder growth, with the aim of achieving inclusive and sustainable development.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said in a message on the social media platform "X" on Wednesday, "We welcome the World Bank's pledge to provide $20 billion, under the first-of-its-kind National Partnership for Pakistan for a period of ten years."

The program primarily focuses on strengthening social indicators in critical and neglected areas, including child nutrition, quality education, clean energy, climate resilience, inclusive development and private investment, according to the German News Agency (dpa).

"The National Partnership Framework reflects the World Bank's confidence in Pakistan's economic resilience and capabilities," Sharif said.
