Palestinian striker Wissam Abu Ali has been dealt an unexpected blow after confirming a serious injury sustained during his team’s recent match in Major League Soccer.
The forward, who plays for Columbus Crew, was injured during the game against Orlando City SC.
He was forced to leave the pitch on a stretcher in visible distress and was later seen using crutches.
Abu Ali has since revealed that he suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament along with damage to the meniscus, an injury that will keep him sidelined for several months.
In a message shared on his Instagram account, the player described the setback as a new challenge in his career.
He expressed determination to overcome the injury and return stronger, noting that he has faced and conquered many difficulties before.
He also reflected on broader struggles beyond football, pointing out that many people around the world endure far greater hardships.
Abu Ali emphasized that his injury is just a minor obstacle in comparison and reaffirmed his belief in resilience and faith.
The striker thanked his teammates, coaching staff, and medical team for their support during the difficult moment, adding that he is motivated to begin his recovery journey.
It is worth noting that Abu Ali joined Columbus Crew last summer from Al Ahly SC and quickly became an important part of the squad.
