"The Batman" is continuing to film in Liverpool this week, despite the new Tier 3 restrictions coming into force in the city.

Multiple residents took to social media wondering why the production of the movie was allowed to continue when local businesses such as pubs, bars, and gyms had to shut.

Production of the movie has been ongoing over the past month, having been delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

On Wednesday, Liverpool Council confirmed in a press statement that the Tier 3 restrictions do not limit filming.

A spokeswoman stated that the new restrictions in Liverpool do not currently impact on filming in the city region.

She added that the Film Office is working closely with every single production to ensure coronavirus-safe measures are in place and are being adhered to under rigorous industry protocols.
