The Special Envoy of the World Health Organization (WHO), David Nabarro, said that vaccination alone will not stop the Coronavirus pandemic, adding that it is necessary to wear facial masks and maintain social distance, according to “Sputnik", a Russian news agency.

Nabarro said in a press release posted online that vaccines alone will not stop this epidemic completely.

A vaccine can prevent death and serious infection but doesn't stop the spread of the virus, so the health authorizes must use other methods, including wearing facial masks and social distancing on the one hand, and public health on the one hand, good health services.

In addition, according to the WHO Special Envoy, remote work is one way to reduce the possibility of the virus spreading.

US Johns Hopkins University data indicated that nearly 243.6 million confirmed cases of the emerging coronavirus have been confirmed in the world, and more than 4.9 million people have died.

Nearly 6.8 billion injections of coronavirus vaccines have been made.

On the other hand, the World Health Organization revealed that up to 180,000 health care workers globally have died from Corona since the epidemic began.

A recent report from the UN agency estimates that between 80,000 and 180,000 health care workers have died from COVID-19 globally.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the WHO, has called for a global moratorium on booster doses until more health care workers receive at least a first dose, noting that deaths among medical personnel are the result of the disparity in vaccination between high- and low-income countries.

The United Nations health agency has also called on the world to protect health care workers from burnout due to heavy workloads.
