WHO: Deaths from Coronavirus Near 1 Million Worldwide

World Health Organization (WHO) has announced that number of Deaths due to Coronavirus (COVID-19) recorded a surprising increase this week, reaching about 50 thousand people.

The organization considered it an "unacceptable increase", with the approaching registration of one million deaths in various parts of the world.

WHO said that although the rates of death and infection with the deadly virus in the world are stable now rather than rising dramatically, the global numbers include sudden increases at the regional and lower local levels.

The deadly virus has killed nearly 947 thousand people around the world since its appearance in China last December, according to official sources compiled by news agencies, while more than 30.2 million infections were recorded so far.

On Friday evening, the Brazilian Ministry of Health announced the registration of 39,797 new cases of "Corona" virus, and 858 deaths during the last day.

The ministry data indicated that the total number of infections reached 4 million and 495 thousand and 183 infections, and the death toll from the virus reached 135,793 people, after 858 new cases were recorded within 24 hours, thus registering the second largest death toll in the world after the United States, and the third largest. The death toll from injuries after the United States and India.

During the past 24 hours, South Africa recorded 2055 new infections with the Coronavirus, which raised the total to more than 657,000 cases, while 85 new deaths were recorded, bringing the number of deaths to 15,857 cases, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Health.

In a televised statement by President Cyril Ramaphosa, international flights will resume as of early October, adding, "We will allow entry to the country for work, leisure and other trips."

- The Canadian provincial government of Quebec announced that it will send police patrols to more than a thousand bars and restaurants over the weekend, to ensure that citizens comply with measures to prevent the spread of the Corona virus.

"This is a huge and clear operation aimed at investigating places where there may be deficiencies or problems," said the Minister of Public Safety, Genevieve Gilbo, during a press conference.

On Friday, the French Minister of Economy and Finance, Bruno Le Maire, announced that he had been infected with the "Corona" virus, confirming that he had entered quarantine.

"I have tested positive for Covid-19 tonight, and I immediately entered isolation at my home in accordance with government health regulations," Lemerre said in a tweet on Twitter, adding that he has no symptoms and will remain in isolation for 7 days while continuing to perform his duties.

On its part, the Dutch government announced yesterday, Friday, the application of stricter health measures in the cities of Amsterdam, Rotterdam and other major cities, amid fears of a second wave of infections with the "Corona" virus.

In the affected areas, restaurants and bars will have to stop receiving guests in the middle of the night and close at one o'clock local time, and gatherings must be less than 50 people, both inside and outside.

The Argentine government decided to extend the measures of economic and social closure throughout the country until October 11, according to a video message published by the press office of Argentine President Alberto Fernandez.
