US President Donald Trump has expressed openness to a possible meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky, but would prefer to see bilateral peace negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv.
White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt said, "President Trump has confirmed his openness to this meeting if necessary. But he wants these two leaders and these two parties to sit together at the negotiating table." The White House spokeswoman declined to assess the second round of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, pointing out that Trump would address that later.
She added, "As for the president's feelings about these negotiations and what happened in them, I will leave it to him to comment on that."
