The World Health Organization (WHO) has classified the new mutant of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), which was detected for the first time in South Africa, as worrisome and called it Omicron.

This mutant is considered the fifth variant that was put within the frame of that classification.

We know that the WHO named these mutants by Greek alphabet (alpha-beta gamma, and delta) to facilitate the discussion on these variants.

According to experts of the WHO, the preliminary data indicates that there is a growing risk of being infected with the Omicron compared to the other worrisome mutants.

On the whole, all viruses, including Sars-Cov-2, is responsible for emerging of the Coronavirus (known also as COVID-19) mutate for the time being.

Some mutations may affect the characteristics of the virus and lead to facilitating its spreading for example or the rising ferocity of the disease.

In other words, the world did not get through the repercussions of that virus yet.

Poor countries around the world pay heftily because they do have not sufficient resources to buy vaccines for their people.

Thus, should the patent of the authorized anti-Corona vaccines be suspended to be used in a state of emergency? As an attempt to attain equality among countries of the world?

Yes, one in four people in the developed countries have been vaccinated actually, but in the developing countries, only one person in 500 people has been vaccinated so far.

However, the issue of vaccines is very complicated because the anti-Corona vaccines enjoy the rights of intellectual property and those legal rights protect innovations originating from intellectual activity in industrial fields and others.

This intellectual property indicates innovations of the human mind at invents, literature and art, designs, logos, names, and images used in business.

The intellectual property is protected by law as well as patents, rights of the author, and trademarks that enable inpiduals to get either recognition or money from innovation or invention through wetting a sound equilibrium between interests of inventors and the public to create an environment that helps flourish innovation and inventing which is the secret of the intellectual property.

Specialists know very well that millions of dollars were invested in some people or laboratories, or foundations thus the international impunity was given to patents according to rules of the international trade. This construe is legal and allows some companies to attain huge profits at a wink.

Pfizer  Company seeks to harvest $ 33.5 billion this year from marketing its anti-Corona vaccine. Also, Biontech Company expects to achieve sales at 15.9 Euros by the end of 2021. In the same context, Moderna Company anticipates $ 20 billion of revenues made by its vaccine.

These figures reveal the imaginary profits harvested by these companies which of course benefit from the legal impunities that protect their patents.

But when thousands of people die every day of epidemics such as the Coronavirus, here the international moral factor must appear because we are all human beings and there are human rights must be protected.

Economic gains and rules of international trade, devised to protect intellectual property should not surpass the human aspect.

We can point out a number of international charters that had been passed after the two world wars and in light of these charters, international courts were created to try those who commit crimes against humanity because human rights are universal rights.

The state of emergency in the field of public health such as the Corona pandemic that requires the lifting of protection of intellectual property to save the lives of men across the world.

The right to live is one of the universal human rights that made monophasic religions and international focus on them.

All member-states of the World Trade Organization (WTO) must listen to the logic of the mind and relinquish narrow financial interests and disregard lobbyists of giant laboratories.

These states must secure better accessibility and more efficiency capabilities to produce more vaccines for all countries in the world.

If this intellectual property is given up, all countries can produce local devices and vaccines without permission in advance of holders of the intellectual property so better protection can be secured to save the souls of human beings and set more ethics in relationships among human beings.
