Egyptian actor Ahmed Elawady has shared an update with fans after being hospitalized days ago following his collapse while filming his upcoming series “Haq Arab”.
In a phone-in with the "MBC Misr" TV channel, Elawady stated that so many things are being said about his health condition, and noted: "What I see is love and concern from people.”
“During the past period, I was filming all the time and spending my time between exercising and shooting, and vice versa," he added.
Elawady continued, "I caught a very severe cold, but I neglected it, and I was shooting and going to the gym until I developed an extremely high temperature and shivers, so I went to the doctor who to me I had to be admitted to the hospital for four days due to negligence to my health and insistence on working,".
"Indeed, I was admitted to the hospital, and God willing, I will be discharged from the hospital tomorrow,”.
The actor also addressed the support he received from his ex-wife, actress Yasmin Abdelaziz during his malady despite their recent separation.
“Yasmin Abdelaziz and I are a very special case. She was with me every day and checked on me and did not leave me for a moment, and this is nothing new to her,” he said.
Elawady added: “I loved Yasmin Abdelaziz because she is a good-natured and virtuous woman, and there is still respect between us despite our separation. I was not surprised by her because I was expecting it.”
On Monday, Mahmoud Hamdan, the writer of “Haq Arab”, shared on Facebook that Elawady had suffered a medical emergency without disclosing details of his condition or what caused it.
“Prayers for my brother Ahmed Elawady’s recovery. Ahmed is prohibited from visitors and has been admitted to the hospital two days ago due to the difficulty of his condition,” Hamdan said in a statement.
Born on December 12, 1985, Elawady was discovered by actor Nour El-Sherif and is best known for his roles in "The Thief of Baghdad", "Mousa", and "Horob Edterary".
