West Ham United F.C. have confirmed that Nuno Espírito Santo will remain as the club’s head coach despite the team’s relegation from the Premier League.
West Ham were relegated to the Championship following the final round of the Premier League season, but the club’s board has decided to continue with the Portuguese manager ahead of the new campaign.
In an official statement, the club said football operations became the immediate priority after Sunday’s final match, revealing that meetings were held with Nuno earlier this week.
The statement added that Nuno reaffirmed his commitment to the club, while West Ham also expressed full confidence in the manager moving forward.
“Nuno has made it very clear that he is highly motivated by the challenge of leading West Ham United back to the Premier League at the first attempt,” the club said. “That is undoubtedly the primary objective for next season.”
West Ham also highlighted Nuno’s previous success in the Championship, recalling how he guided Wolverhampton Wanderers F.C. to the title in 2018 with 99 points.
Despite the disappointment of relegation, the club’s board believes there have been signs of progress in recent months and wants Nuno to continue building on that development.
