The statement asserted that Al Ahly has not either accepted resignation or sacked any of its honorary president throughout its history.
Al Ahly also expressed a desire for Al-sheikh to retain his position. It also expressed readiness to cooperate with him in the upcoming period in line with the club's principles and vision of its board.
Noteworthy, Al-Sheikh sent an official message to Al Ahly's President Mahmoud El-Khatib, asking him to clear his position as honorary president of Al-Ahly.
“I submitted my resignation from the position of Al-Ahly’s honorary president on May 25 2018, but I have not yet officially notified the Egyptian club’s final decision,” he said.
He confirmed that he will still a big fan of Al-Ahly and will spare no efforts in providing all support for such a great entity.
At the end of his message, the former Pyramids president called on Al-Ahly’s board of directors to decide on the issue and let him know their final decision, wishing all blessings to be bestowed over Egypt and its people.
