Belarusian jeweller Vadim Kachan created what is likely to be a ring made of white and pink gold with a diamond of just 0.002 carats.

The ring weighs in at an incredible 0.01 grams, as its diameter is 0.9 milligrams.

Kachan revealed that the ring took about three days of work. However, the preparation for the whole process took several months, noting that the most difficult thing that faced him while making the ring was soldering the frame to the ring.

Kachan broke the Indian jeweller Ashish Verma’s record, according to the Indian edition of the Book of Records. Verma created a similar ring which weighed 10mg.

In 2008, scientists at the University of Melbourne created what they believe is the smallest diamond ring at just 5 micrometers in width and 300 nm thick, but this was accomplished by carving a single piece of diamond rather than using traditional goldmaking techniques.
