Moroccan outlet Al Mountakhab reported that Cameroonian international striker Vincent Aboubakar arrived in Casablanca over the weekend to hold final talks regarding a potential move to Wydad Athletic Club.
The Indomitable Lions captain is said to be convinced by Wydad’s sporting project and could announce his signing with the Moroccan giants in the coming hours.
Aboubakar, who spent last season with Turkish side Hatayspor, a club previously home to Moroccan internationals Ayoub El Kaabi and goalkeeper Munir Mohamedi, would bring top-level experience should the deal go through.
Meanwhile, Wydad have officially confirmed the return of former forward Zouhair El Moutaraji, who signed a three-year contract after parting ways with Egyptian club Pharco FC.
In its statement, the club highlighted that bringing back El Moutaraji before the close of the summer transfer window adds depth and experience to the squad.
The 29-year-old forward played one season with Pharco, making 15 appearances, scoring two goals, and providing one assist before terminating his contract by mutual consent.
El Moutaraji remains a club icon, having represented Wydad in 148 matches, scoring 29 goals and delivering 14 assists, while playing a key role in winning four Moroccan league titles and a CAF Champions League crown.
