Southampton’s ten men players earned a deserved point, after holding a 1-1 draw against Manchester United in the Premier League on Saturday.

Daniel James gave the early lead to the Red Devils after only ten minutes when he moved into Southampton's penalty area, slamming the ball into the far top corner to score the opening goal.

Southampton’s defender scored the equalizer in the 58th minute when midfielder Danso stood up a teasing first-time cross towards the far post, where Vestergaaard towered over the Red Devils' defender Lindelof and headed into the net.

Vestergaard scored his first goal since he joined Southampton.

Southampton had to resume the game with only ten players after defender Danso got a second yellow card, following his ill-conceived hack at McTominay.

Manchester United now have five points, ranking fourth, as they made an ideal start to the 2019-20 season by demolishing Chelsea 4-0, before holding a 1-1 draw with Wolverhampton in the second round.

They suffered the first defeat in this current season from Crystal Palace 1-2 in the previous round. While Southampton ranked 13th with four points.

Southampton will face Sheffield United in the next round on Saturday, September 14, while the Red Devils will play against Leicester City on the same day.
