Liverpool's defender Virgil van Dijk has been forced off with an injury just 10 minutes into the Merseyside derby between the Reds and Everton after a Jordan Pickford horror tackle.

The Liverpool centre-back made his way into the Everton box to attack a free-kick when he was hindered by Pickford.

The Video Assistant Referee (VAR) reviewed the foul as Van Dijk received treatment. England international keeper Pickford was very lucky to get away with not being shown a red card.

Holland defender played on for a few minutes but it wasn't long before he left the venue and was forced to make way.
