A spokesperson for the U.S. State Department who spoke Arabic has resigned from her position, according to Reuters.
Hala Rharrit, who was also the deputy director of the Dubai Regional Media Hub, left her job after nearly two decades in opposition to the United States' Gaza policy.
In a statement on LinkedIn, she said: "I resigned April 2024 after 18 years of distinguished service in opposition to the United States' Gaza policy."
This is the third known resignation from the department over the issue.
When asked about the resignation, a State Department spokesperson said that the department has channels for its workforce to share their views when they disagree with government policies.
Nearly a month earlier, Annelle Sheline of the State Department's Human Rights Bureau announced her resignation, and State Department official Josh Paul resigned in October also.
