The United States has revoked the green cards of several Iranian nationals living in the country who are linked to current or former Iranian officials, in a move that reflects tightening immigration enforcement amid rising geopolitical tensions.

The US Department of State said on Saturday that the action was taken against Seyed Isa Hashemi, a psychology teacher based in Los Angeles, along with his wife and son. All three are Iranian-born legal residents of the United States.

According to officials, US immigration authorities have detained the family and are preparing to deport them. The decision comes as diplomatic talks in Pakistan are underway to end the ongoing regional conflict.

The State Department said Hashemi is the son of Masoumeh Ebtekar, who served as spokesperson for the group involved in the Iran Hostage Crisis. Ebtekar later became Iran’s first female vice president.

The move follows a similar step taken last week, when the US revoked the residency status of the niece of Qasem Soleimani, the former commander of Iran’s Quds Force who was killed in a US airstrike in Baghdad in 2020, along with her daughter.

Analysts say the latest measures reflect a broader US policy shift toward individuals with family ties to senior figures in Iran, raising legal and diplomatic questions about immigration enforcement and international relations.
