US President Donald Trump was in attendance at the men’s final of the 2025 US Open on Sunday at Flushing Meadows, New York, continuing his pattern of appearing at major sporting events.
The highly anticipated showdown saw Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz face Italy’s Jannik Sinner, with Alcaraz aiming to claim his second US Open title and avenge his loss to Sinner in this year’s Wimbledon final.
Trump’s visit to Flushing Meadows follows his presence at the Super Bowl in February and the FIFA Club World Cup final in July.
It marks his first time at the US Open since 2015, when he and his wife, Melania, were met with boos during his election campaign.
The last sitting US president to attend the tournament was Bill Clinton, who watched the women’s final in 2000.
Interestingly, Trump was also present at that event and even photographed with Clinton.
During his second term in office, Trump has made a point of attending high-profile sporting events, sometimes greeted with boos, such as at the Club World Cup final, but also receiving warmer receptions at the Super Bowl and certain combat sports events. Later this month, he is expected to attend the opening day of the Ryder Cup golf tournament.
