The United States has sanctioned eight individuals and entities for their significant roles in facilitating the transfer of funds that bolster North Korea's ability to develop its illegal weapons of mass destruction program.

According to a statement released on the US State Department's website, these designations target networks involved in transferring components for weapons of mass destruction and engaging in illicit exports to North Korea.

Additionally, they identify key players in financial networks responsible for laundering illicit funds to the country.

This action, taken in coordination with the Republic of Korea, underscores the collective determination to confront North Korea's sanctions evasion activities.

The statement emphasizes the commitment to explore all available tools to diminish North Korea's capacity to finance its illegal and destabilizing weapons programs through electronic activities.

The designations announced today coincide with the sixth Working Group meeting between the United States and the Republic of Korea on cyber threats posed by North Korea.

This highlights the increased collaboration between the two nations to disrupt North Korea's ability to generate revenue for its illegal weapons programs through electronic means.
