The United States has deployed more than 15 warships to support a naval blockade on Iran, according to a U.S. official cited by The Wall Street Journal, in a move that signals a significant escalation in tensions between the two countries.

The deployment is part of a broader effort to enforce the blockade, which recently entered into force under orders from U.S. President Donald Trump.

The move comes amid growing concerns over security in key maritime routes, particularly the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman, through which a substantial portion of global oil shipments passes.

In response, Iran issued a stern warning, with its Defense Ministry stating that Trump would fail in any attempt to carry out military intervention in the strategic waterways.

“Iran will not allow any aggression in the Strait of Hormuz or the Sea of Oman,” the ministry said, underscoring Tehran’s readiness to confront any escalation.

The developments mark a sharp deterioration in already strained relations, raising fears of potential military confrontation in one of the world’s most critical energy corridors.
