A bipartisan delegation of U.S. lawmakers, led by Congressman Darrell Issa and including Representatives Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick, Chuck Edwards, Jim Costa, Joe Wilson, and James Baird, visited Egypt as part of a multi-country trip focused on regional peace and stability.

During their meeting with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, they discussed the ceasefire in Gaza and long-term security efforts.

Congressman Issa praised Egypt’s role in securing hostage releases, facilitating humanitarian aid, and coordinating medical evacuations. The lawmakers reiterated that Hamas must never govern Gaza again or threaten Israel, highlighting the need for international collaboration to ensure long-term peace.

The Congressional delegation also emphasized their support for the U.S.-Egyptian strategic partnership. While in Egypt, the delegation visited the Rafah Border to observe humanitarian aid deliveries and met with the North Sinai Governor.

Throughout the trip, Congressman Issa emphasized the United States’ commitment to working with Egypt and other regional partners to find diplomatic solutions to rebuild the Gaza Strip
