US Condemns Assassination of Shireen Abu Akleh

The US State Department condemned the assassination of Palestinian journalist, Shireen Abu Akleh, by Israeli occupation soldiers in Jenin, this morning, Wednesday.

The US State Department said in a statement: "We are deeply sad and strongly condemn the killing of journalist Shireen Abu Akleh in the West Bank, and we demand that those responsible for her murder be held accountable."

Iconic Palestinian reporter and journalist Abu Akleh was killed during covering an Israeli attack in the Palestinian West Bank for a famous Arabic news podcaster, ABC News reported on Wednesday.

Abu Akleh was not the only reporter who was attacked during covering the events in the Jenin camp, Al-Quds newspaper reporter was also injured, but she is in a stable condition right now.

Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid said it offered the Palestinian Authorities a joint investigation into the reporter’s death.

 

Lapid tweeted: “Journalists must be protected in conflict zones and we all have a responsibility to get to the truth.”
