The United States Department of Defense (Pentagon) has announced the completion of the construction of a floating port off the coast of Gaza.

However, current weather conditions do not allow for the safe transport of the two-part facility to its designated location.

Quoting Pentagon Deputy Spokesperson Sabrina Singh, the US-based channel Alhurra reported Wednesday that the construction of the floating port, comprising two parts, has been completed and is awaiting transfer to the designated site off the coast of Gaza.

Singh added that there are still expectations of strong winds and high sea waves, leading to unsafe conditions for transporting the components of the floating port.

Therefore, the sections of the port and the military ships involved in its construction remain stationed in the port of Ashdod.

She confirmed that the US Central Command is prepared to transport the port to its location in the near future.

The purpose of the floating port, initiated by the US last month, with an estimated cost of $320 million, is to deliver more humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
