On April 2, 2026, in Cairo, Egypt, U.S. Chargé d’Affaires Robert Silverman met with Egyptian government officials and American business leaders at the Egypt Energy Show (EGYPES 2026), highlighting U.S. leadership in energy and reaffirming the commitment to a long-standing partnership with Egypt.

During the event, Silverman discussed regional energy security and business opportunities with Deputy Prime Minister Hussein Issa, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badawi, and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Khaled Azmi, while also participating in a roundtable with Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly regarding Egypt's energy investment climate.

He engaged with a wide range of exhibiting U.S. energy companies, emphasizing American innovation and private sector leadership across the energy value chain.

Silverman stated that EGYPES is a vital opportunity to deepen cooperation and engage with key partners, noting that the United States is proud to support Egypt’s energy security through oil production, oilfield technology, and the provision of affordable natural gas via pipelines and ships to foster long-term economic growth and regional connectivity.

On the sidelines of the event, he addressed the Houston-based Bilateral Chamber of Commerce, pointing out that American companies are boosting Egypt’s oil and gas production and building the pipelines that will transform Egypt into a natural gas hub for the entire Eastern Mediterranean.
