US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller called for a ceasefire and the release of hostages in Gaza.
In press remarks, Miller stressed that Israel's ultimate security goals cannot be achieved only through military operations, but also through some kind of political solution with the Palestinian people.
Moreover, he stressed that any detainee must be treated with dignity in accordance with the principles of international law, whether in Israel or anywhere around the world.
The US State Department had previously stated that the administration of US President Joe Biden has not yet concluded a final assessment confirming Israel’s violation of the international laws of war, noting that the assessment is still ongoing at this moment.
