The American company Moderna has begun the process of distributing its vaccine against the emerging coronavirus throughout the United States along with the Pfizer-Biontech vaccine, as part of an expanded vaccination campaign in the country.
Amid the record daily Coronavirus Cases and deaths recorded by the United States, Moderna has already transported vaccine supplies from its factories to warehouses run by the "McKesson" distribution company.
During a press conference, US General Gustave Perna said that workers on Saturday packed vaccines into containers and loaded them onto trucks, indicating that the trucks will head to healthcare providers on Monday.
Perna apologized to the US governors for their confusion about the availability of the vaccine after the US government reduced the number of doses that the states would receive within the next week.
States including Oregon and Washington, which are ramping up their efforts to vaccinate frontline healthcare workers as quickly as possible, said their shares had been reduced by 40%.
Perna admitted he made a mistake in estimating the number of doses that would actually be approved by the regulators of the shipments, which is less than the number of produced doses.
