US Medical experts will start to analyze “presumed human remains” found within the Titan wreckage, CNN reported on Thursday.
US Coast Guard Captian Jason Neubauer said: “There is still a substantial amount of work to be done to understand the factors that led to the catastrophic loss of the TITAN and help ensure a similar tragedy does not occur again."
The OceanGate Expeditions submarine lost contact on June 18 with its mother ship.
The Titan’s disappearance triggered a massive international search to find the device and save the explorers.
After days of searching, US authorities announced the implosion of the submarine and the death of all five men onboard.
The US Coast Guard convened a Marine Board of Investigation to investigate the causes of the incident and offer recommendations “to the proper authorities to pursue civil or criminal sanctions as necessary."
Parts from the Titan wreckage site arrived in the Canadian coastal city of St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador.
Neubauer explained that “The evidence will provide investigators from several international jurisdictions with critical insights into the cause of this tragedy."
