US: At Least 5 Killed in Texas Shooting

Five people, including an 8-year-old child, were killed in a home shooting in Cleveland, Texas, ABC News reported on Saturday, citing local police and authorities.

The shooting took place late Friday and the police are still searching for the suspect, according to the report.

ABC reported that officials from the San Jacinto County Sheriff's Office received a harassment phone call from Cleveland at approximately 11:31 p.m. local time but when they arrived at the scene they found several victims who had been shot.

The San Jacinto County Sheriff's Office told the broadcaster that the suspect was a Mexican man who was drunk, armed, and on the run.

The Cleveland Police Department did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for a comment. The San Jacinto County Sheriff's office could not be reached for a comment.

The ABC report stated that police did not disclose the identity of the victims or their possible relationship to the suspect, but said they were all from Honduras.

It added that the shootings all took place in one house, and four victims were declared dead at the scene, and the fifth was declared dead after being transferred to the hospital.

The report, quoting the authorities, mentioned that the youngest of the dead was eight years old, and two victims were found above two alive children.
