UROPRO Center, a fully integrated urology and andrology center in Egypt and the Arab world, organized – in co-operation with Cleopatra Hospitals Group – its second annual medical conference to showcase the latest international technologies used in the treatment of urological and andrology diseases using surgical robots.
A host of 350 doctors and experts in the field of urology and andrology, in addition to a group of the most famous Egyptian and foreign doctors and scientists, were present at the conference.
Dr. Ahmed Ezz, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cleopatra Hospitals Group, and Dr. Ibrahim Mukhles, Professor of Urology at Alexandria University and President of the Egyptian Urological Association attended the conference.
Dr. Ahmed Abu Talib, Professor of Urology, Andrology and Medical Director of EUROPRO Center, noted that the conference aims to develop methods of treatment and surgery for urology and andrology diseases, by opening educational communication channels with the largest surgeons and professors working in this field around the world, in addition to developing skills of junior urologists, familiarizing them with the latest treatment techniques used abroad.
"It is the first time in Egypt and the Middle East region that an international medical conference is organized in co-operation with a raft of European most skilled doctors to perform a range of delicate and complex surgeries, using a surgical robot in a live broadcast via video conference technology from France, England, and Italy," Talib added.
He noted that the live broadcast of these surgeries included a complete prostatectomy, a kidney resection, and installment of the hydraulic stent for the penis, in addition to a flexible laparoscopic procedure to extract and break up a kidney stone using a laser, and a prostate biopsy with an MRI device.
"The EUROPRO will continue to hold such major scientific conferences; hence its social responsibility and pioneering role it plays in this field," Talib concluded.
