Unseen Van Gogh's Painting Displayed

A never seen before painting by Vincent Van Gogh made its first ever public appearance at the museum carries the late artist's name, Al Ain reported on Friday.

The painting of an exhausted, old village man, and it was paint at the painter's early career in 1882.

It was preserved in an unannounced family's private collection for more than a century. However, it was out to the public on Thursday. Visitors can watch the artwork untill January 2.

Depicting an old man dressed in a coat, trousers, and boots, sitting desperately, exhaustedly, and hiding his face by his hands, the small sketch was painted in Pencil and signed with "Vincent."

Van Gogh Museum Senior Researcher Teio Meedendrop told BBC: "This one has never been seen before anywhere. It's the first time that this drawing is out in the open."

He added that the style Van Gogh's followed in executing the painting was somehow different of the one which the artist mastered after that.

On her side, the museum's Director Emilie Gordenker, said that the whole staff members at the museum were "delighted with this discovery".

She added: "We are very happy to have made a contribution to our specialist field."

"It's quite rare for a new work to be attributed to Van Gogh. We're proud to be able to share this early drawing and its story with our visitors," the director concluded.
