The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) refused to adopt a draft American resolution on the Israeli-Palestinian escalation, as it did not include a call for a ceasefire, Sputnik reported.

Russia and China used their veto power against the American draft resolution in the Security Council regarding the situation in Israel and the Gaza Strip, despite 10 members of the Council voting in favor of the resolution, while 3 voted against it: Russia, China, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

In turn, Russia's permanent representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzya, said during the Security Council session that the American draft resolution is tantamount to a license from the Security Council to continue the Israeli attack and cannot be passed because it will completely lose the Council's credibility.

He added that violations of international humanitarian law threaten to expand the conflict in the Middle East and perhaps beyond.

Nebenzya noted that the US does not want Security Council resolutions to influence the Israeli operation.
