The UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has reported a significant increase in food prices in the Gaza Strip, which is rapidly approaching a state of famine. The UNRWA stated that essential goods in the northern region of Gaza have become 25 times more expensive than before the war and that a 25-kilogram bag of flour is now priced at over 400 US dollars.
On Sunday, UNRWA Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini reported that Israel had refused to allow UNRWA aid convoys to enter northern Gaza. He denounced this as outrageous and intentional obstruction of life-saving assistance during a man-made famine. He emphasized the need to lift these restrictions and warned that preventing UNRWA from fulfilling its mandate in Gaza would hasten famine.
