United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) is procuring and distributing lifesaving supplies through Egypt amid the Gaza crisis, which has killed and injured thousands of children.

In a statement, UNICEF Representative in Egypt Jeremy Hopkins said: “UNICEF is sending trucks filled with water, mobile latrines, and dignity kits to address the immediate humanitarian needs of 150,000 people. Our immediate pipeline includes additional essentials like medicines, water, tents, blankets, hygiene kits, and more. These supplies are on their way and are being handed over to the Egyptian Red Crescent Society, our partner on the ground, to expand our support in Gaza.”

“In parallel with these efforts, UNICEF is working with the government of Egypt to support critical services for children in the North Sinai Governorate,” the statement read.

UNICEF also stressed the need for an immediate humanitarian pause and safe access to scale up and sustain lifesaving services for children. “A child is a child. Children everywhere must be protected at all times and must never come under attack.”
