Egyptian Foreign Minister (FM) Sameh Shoukry met his Pakistani Foreign Minister (FM) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Wednesday, on the sidelines of the high-level 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly UNGA in New York.
During the meeting, Shoukry expressed Egypt’s pride in the historical and distinguished relations between both countries, indicating Egypt’s aspiration to strengthen bilateral relations, and its appreciation for the important role played by Pakistan at the regional and Islamic levels.
Moreover, FM reviewed Egyptian efforts to combat terrorism and extremist ideology, expressing Egypt’s understanding of the concerns and challenges that Pakistan is currently going through.
He also stressed that Egypt welcomes cooperation with the Pakistani side to transfer the accumulated Egyptian expertise in this important and vital field.
For his part, Pakistani FM praised the distinguished relations between the two countries, expressing his country’s desire to strengthen bilateral cooperation frameworks in a number of important fields, most notably the field of information technology export, agriculture, mining, and military manufacturing.
Furthermore, Pakistani FM also addressed the situation in Afghanistan, expressing his country's aspiration to achieve stability in Afghanistan as soon as possible due to its importance to enhance peace and stability in the region.
Moreover, the two ministers agreed to continue coordination and consultation during the next stage, in a way that ensures following up on the path of cooperation relations between the two countries and strengthening them at an accelerated pace, as well as coordinating the situation in various international forums in a way that achieves the interests of both countries.
