As part of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence Campaign, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), in collaboration with the National Council for Women (NCW) and the Modern University for Technology (MTI) inaugurated on Monday the Safe Women’s Unit at MTI Teaching Hospital.
The event came in conjunction with the 5th Annual Coordination Meeting for Anti-Violence Against Women University Women Units in Egyptian Universities.
According to UNFPA, the units offer comprehensive services for women subjected to violence, including medical services, as well as multi-sectoral referral to legal and social services in coordination with NCW.
In 2022, NCW signed protocols with the universities to establish several medical response units at the university teaching hospitals.
