Culture Min. Receives UNESCO's Certificate of "Palm" of Human Heritage

Dr Enas Abdel-Dayem, Minister of Culture, received the certificate of registering the file "The Palm “ - Knowledge - Skills - Traditions - Practices" on the Representative List of Human Heritage in UNESCO Organization.

It is worthy of note that Egypt participated in submitting it to the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage in its fourteenth session in Bogota, Colombia.

Abdel Dayem said that the registration of the Palm file on the Representative List of Human Heritage at UNESCO came with the participation of Egypt and a group of Arab countries, namely: -Bahrain, Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the Sultanate of Oman, Iraq, Yemen, Palestine, Jordan, Sudan, Tunisia, Morocco and Mauritania.

It is worthy of note that the representatives of ALECSO (Arab Organization for Education, Culture and Science) attended an expanded forum held in Luxor to discuss the nomination of the file.

In addition, several meetings were held in Khartoum, Tunisia and Abu Dhabi during which the procedures were completed. Afterwards, The Arab Emirates coordinated to submit this file.

The minister assured the continuation of the exerted efforts to preserve the cultural heritage wealth that characterize the Arabic communities.

She expressed her pride with registering two historical elements belonging to the Egyptian intangible heritage on the UNESCO Urgent Safeguarding List, namely: the Tateeb - The Sticks Game” and “The Aragoz doll”.
