Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said on Tuesday that the United Nations special envoy for Syria, Geir Otto Pedersen, will take part in talks on the future of Syria in Astana, according to the official Russian news agency "Tass".
Deputy foreign ministers from Russia, Syria, Turkey and Iran will meet in the Kazakh capital on Wednesday.
Bogdanov also said that representatives from Syria's neighboring observer states, Iraq, Lebanon and Jordan, would also take part in the talks.
The Kazakh capital is hosting an Astana international meeting on Syria on June 20-21. The negotiations involve delegations from the guarantor countries - Russia, Iran and Turkey - and representatives of the Syrian government and opposition. Representatives of the United Nations, Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq are expected to attend the meeting as observers.
