The United Nations, in collaboration with the Lebanese government, has issued an urgent appeal for $371.4 million to address the pressing humanitarian needs of individuals displaced by the recent conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.

This latest call for aid follows an initial appeal in October for $426 million, of which $250 million was secured.

Despite the partial response, significant gaps remain in providing essential support to those affected by the hostilities.

According to Imran Riza, the UN’s Humanitarian Coordinator in Lebanon, over 125,000 people remain displaced, while hundreds of thousands more face substantial challenges in rebuilding their lives.

Riza emphasized the critical need for additional funding to prevent further deterioration of the dire situation.

The proposed funds aim to support approximately one million of the most vulnerable individuals, including Lebanese citizens, Syrian refugees, and Palestinian residents, through March.

The conflict, which escalated in September, saw intensified airstrikes and a limited ground offensive by Israel in Lebanon after nearly a year of border clashes with Hezbollah.

A ceasefire, which came into effect on November 27, has allowed over 800,000 displaced individuals to return to their homes, according to UN reports.
