Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzia announced that the expansion of the UN Security Council is possible only by including third-world countries from Asia, Africa, and Latin America continents.

Nebenzia said during a session of the UN Security Council, "There are a lot of talks, especially today, about reforming the UN Security Council and allegations about its ineffectiveness.

He added that this talk could have been heard since the establishment of the United Nations, and it has been heard throughout all the years of its existence."

He continued, "There is no doubt that the Council and the United Nations (UN) in general must be adapted to the current reality. In the absence of this, it is difficult to imagine representation, true multipolarity, and equality in relations between member states."
