The United Nations, alongside its partners, has unveiled its 2025 Humanitarian Response Plan for Yemen, calling for $2.47 billion in funding to provide urgent humanitarian assistance and protection services to millions in need.

The decade-long crisis in Yemen has severely impacted communities, leaving over half of the population—about 19.5 million people—in need of humanitarian aid and protection services.

Vulnerable and marginalized groups, including women and girls, are increasingly exposed to risks due to the ongoing conflict.

Over the past year, the humanitarian situation has remained dire, with significant exacerbation in many regions.

Economic decline, climate shocks, and regional escalation have worsened the humanitarian crisis, escalating the need for aid and protection.

Nearly half of the country’s population faces severe food insecurity, while more than 13 million people lack access to sufficient clean water.

Forty percent of health facilities are either partially operational or non-functional.

The 2025 appeal aims to deliver life-saving assistance to 10.5 million of the most vulnerable individuals.

Julian Harneis, the UN’s Humanitarian Coordinator for Yemen, emphasized that the response is based on the voices of local communities, ensuring cost-effective and quality assistance reaches those affected by the crisis, wherever they are.

Despite significant challenges, 197 relief organizations managed to reach over 8 million people with life-saving aid in the past year, with two-thirds of these organizations being local Yemeni entities.
