GENEVA, Aug 28 (SEE) - The UN envoy to Syria will invite Egypt, France, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the UK and the US to a meeting here on the future of Syria on September 14, Spokeswoman of the Director of the United Nations Information Service in Geneva Alessandra Vellucci said on Tuesday.
She added that the UN envoy will discuss with representatives of these countries the peace process in Syria on the basis of the United Nations Security Council resolution 2254, which was unanimously adopted on 18 December 2015.
The resolution demands that all parties immediately cease any attacks against civilian targets. It urges all Member States to support efforts to achieve a ceasefire and requests the U.N. to convene the parties to engage in formal negotiations.
