Filippo Grandi, United Nations (UN) Higher Commissure for Refugees said that the UN should continue its work in Libya until closing immigrants detention centers there.

He warned that warders of these centers commit violence against the wretched detainees.

Grandi revealed during  a news conference held during his official visit to Italy, that data of the UN confirm that about 4000 detainees are still behind bar in  the official centers Libya. He indicated about fourth of those detainees are of immigrants and refugees.

The UN official urges all agencies under the UN and non-governmental groups to work together to ensure safety of persons who leave centers of detaining to keep them away   from traffickers and criminals.

On the other hand, Doctors without Borders, a philanthropic international group, announced on Wednesday, that one immigrant was killed and two others were injured as guards of a center of detaining in Tripoli, fired at them.

The organization made  clear  that a team affiliated with it receives the injured people early yesterday, Thursday.

The statement of the group warns of crowdedness in these centers so stress grew at night of the attack. The guards fired randomly at the illegal immigrants.

Eileen Velden , Directress of Operation of the organization Libya, said that the attack showed the  huge danger that threaten detainees in the centers of holding  immigrants and refugees in Libya.

The organization has monitored an increase in operations carried out by Libyan Coast Guards against the immigrants   since  February to prevent immigrants of attempts to cross the Mediterranean Sea to the European coast.

Over the last few years illegal immigrants flowed to Europe but thousands drowned in sea before they put foot on the European coast.

Security operations in Libya resulted in unlimited increase in numbers of detainees held in centers where conditions of living deteriorated there.
