The United Nations reports that 80% of households in the Gaza Strip are without access to clean water.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has also announced that children in Gaza who have survived Israeli airstrikes may still face the threat of starvation.

During a press conference, UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric highlighted the insufficient food aid being delivered to Gaza compared to the needs, calling for safe entry points to be established for aid delivery throughout the region, including the northern areas of Gaza.

Dujarric mentioned that ongoing attacks in Gaza are hindering humanitarian aid efforts, stressing the need for security guarantees for the UN and its partners.

He noted significant issues with water and sanitation due to overcrowding in shelters, stating, "Around 340 people are forced to share a single toilet, and there is only one shower for every 1,300 people, while 80% of families lack clean water."

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the WHO, emphasized that "children in Gaza who have survived the bombing may not survive the famine," urging for more aid to be allowed into the besieged territory.

In a statement on the platform "X" (formerly Twitter), Ghebreyesus called for a ceasefire and increased aid to Gaza to address the dire humanitarian situation.
