UK's Environment Min.: Kent Variant Most Dominant in Britain

British Environment Minister George Eustice revealed on Tuesday that the Kent strain of coronavirus is the most dominant in the country now.

"Our main challenge is dealing with the Kent variant which is dominating at the moment," Eustice told Sky News.

Eustice reminded people the current vaccines are effective against this strain, noting the Kent variant is highly infectious, spreads more quickly than some of the other variants, and dominates at the moment, and is our primary challenge.

"The vaccines are fully efficacious against that particular strain. The South African variant is of less concern as it is less infectious," he added.

The minister noted that they need to redouble their efforts to protect against variants, and this includes tougher controls on international travel.
